Primarily designed for people with presbyopia, the implant may make patients independent from reading aids, such as reading glasses. The dimensions of this implant are remarkably small – with a diameter of 3.8 mm, thickness of 6 microns. There is an outer ring and a central opening, the former is opaque, while the latter is positioned over the pupil’s center. The effect of this type of positioning is that of a pin-hole camera.
