When Dr. Amjad Khokhar opened Houston LASIK & Eye in 2004, he brought with him not only knowledge and experience in laser vision correction but also a dedication to helping people get the best eyesight possible. Dr. Amjad Khokhar has been improving vision – and lives – of people for more than 20 years.
Dr. Khokhar has always been interested in eye health since a young boy in Alexandria. Hence, the Louisiana native went to study Cognitive Sciences at Rice University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, and then furthered his studies at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center.
Afterward, he undertook ophthalmologic surgical training at the University of Texas, where he received mentorship on LASIK procedures from top practitioners in the country. He has his board certifications from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Khokhar then joined the Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he would eventually become the Chief of Ophthalmology. From time to time, some ophthalmology clinics would request his help, which Dr. Khokhar would gladly oblige. Due to his expertise and contributions to the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Khokhar has been given awards by various scientific bodies.
In addition to performing LASIK surgeries, Dr. Khokhar also trains aspiring LASIK specialists. He is a member of various medical associations in Texas, including the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society, the Houston Ophthalmologic Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He regularly visits local organizations to spread awareness about eye health and volunteers at community health clinics in the area.
